What drives tooling cost before the formal quote

Overseas buyers usually need budget shape before they send a full RFQ. This page explains the factors that move tooling cost up or down, without pretending one fixed table can price every export mold correctly.

Pricing boundary

We do not publish a fake fixed mold price table. Geometry, resin, cavity target, steel, and trial scope all change the tooling boundary.

Cavity count

Cavity target changes mold size, hot runner scope, cooling complexity, and the amount of fitting and validation work needed before launch.

Steel and mold life

Export programs vary in expected output, resin abrasiveness, and maintenance plans, so steel grade and heat-treatment choices affect both upfront tooling cost and long-run stability.

Part geometry and actions

Threads, undercuts, slides, lifters, inserts, and deep ribs add engineering hours, machining steps, and trial-risk management before the tool is ready.

Surface finish and tolerance

Texture, polish level, shut-off quality, sealing faces, and dimensional checkpoints all influence how much finishing, fitting, and inspection time the mold needs.

Trial scope and handoff

Sampling rounds, measurement expectations, export packing, spare-part preparation, and startup support all shape the final quotation boundary.
